Ski Home for Hosting Guests

CLIENT OVERVIEW

Even when you enjoy inviting guests for some extended time together, it can be nice to maintain a little separation. This home invites guests while also providing a sense of privacy. The goal of the design is to provide a welcoming space where frequent guests have a place for peaceful retreat after a day of enjoying the fresh powder and bluebird skies in Big Sky, Montana.

HOME DESIGN DETAILS

From the intimate proximity of Lone Mountain to the astonishing views of Andesite Ridge and the valley beyond, the design of this home invites the stunning 270-degree panorama of the landscape inside through expansive windows. The entry into the home begins with a stunning view through the living room to Lone Mountain beyond. The large kitchen is open to the dining and living rooms, where everyone can enjoy the breathtaking mountain views, whether they are preparing the nightly appetizers or relaxing in front of the fire. Some of the unique amenities of this home include an archery room, a ski tuning shop, conditioned wine storage, and an office with a private bath.

This home’s design centers around accentuating the amazing views while also allowing separation between the homeowners and their guests. Designed with not only the homeowners’ experiences in mind but also those of their guests, this home offers a private guest entrance and entertainment space. The private guest quarters on the lower level are completely separated from the homeowners’ main level living space, allowing homeowners and guests to enjoy some rest and rejuvenation in their own spaces before joining up for dinner or getting back out on the slopes together. Guests can enjoy a luxurious vacation experience in their own recreation room with a fireplace as well as private laundry facilities, a kitchenette, and dining area. Guests and homeowners alike can recuperate their sore muscles after a long day of skiing with easy access to the hot tub on a designated patio positioned to take in the views of Lone Mountain and Andesite Ridge.

Taking into consideration the grade of the mountainous property, the building design goes beyond the inside. The outdoor design integrates natural resources with boulder retaining walls, stone masonry, covered dining and living spaces, and a flagstone walkway leading up to the main entrance, inviting all inside.
